Based on the character and significant antagonist, Shazam, the film shows Black Adam almost 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the omnipotent powers of the ancient gods and imprisoned soon after. He is freed from his earthly tomb and is ready to bring his unique form of justice to the modern world.

In the comics, Black Adam is a villain, a significant enemy of Shazam. Here in the movie, things are a little softer. Black Adam is an unabashed anti-hero. He kills and skewers without blinking. The film reveals his past as a slave in the Kahndaq country. Born in Ancient Egypt, the anti-hero has super strength, speed, endurance, and the ability to fly and shoot lightning. Only he has been dormant for centuries. Until a woman ends up freeing him when he tries to save himself from terrible mercenaries. From then on, Adam shows his unique form of justice to the modern world. Only Amanda Waller (micro appearance by Viola Davis) is worried about what might happen with someone so powerful on the loose. That's when she sends the members of the Justice Society to imprison him again. But things are going to be more complicated than everyone imagined.
