Actor Danny DeVito is “bringing Penguin to life” once again: he will be responsible for writing the character’s story in a Batman villain’s comic book.
Actor Danny DeVito, who played the Penguin in the movie Batman Returns (1992), will return to the character as a screenwriter. He has been invited to write a story about the villain for a special issue of the comic book “Gotham City Villains,” to be released in November by DC Comics.
The special issue, entitled Gotham City Villains Anniversary Giant #1 anthology one-shot, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of Penguin‘s creation, who made his comic book debut in December 1941 in Detective Comics #58.
In addition to the actor’s story about the Penguin, it will highlight other famous Batman foes, including Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Talia al Ghul, Mad Hatter, and Red Hood.
Dan Mora, who is participating in the creation of the story, posted the comic cover and a preview of Catwoman and Penguin’s concept work on his social media:
I have been working with @DannyDeVito & @Paul_Kaminski
in a new short Penguin story for Batman villain’s 80th anniversary.
I’m super excited for everyone to read it.
