Luke Hobbs was an essential part of the Fast and Furious franchise, but according to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, he should not return.

The character has been in three main films in the series and even starred in a spin-off, entitled Hobbs & Shaw, alongside Jason Statham. But it seems that this was “The Rock’s” swan song in the film series, after some disagreements with actor Vin Diesel.

Johnson spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, alongside Emily Blunt, promoting his new film, Jungle Cruise. Asked about Diesel’s recent statements, the actor refrained but made a point of confirming that he is out.

I laughed and laughed hard. [upon learning of recent Vin Diesel allegations]. I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that. And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me.,” he said.

The quarrel between the two happened during the filming of the 8th film in 2017 and was never quite explained. “The Rock” made some claims at the time on his social media, and it has since been known that he and Diesel are on bad terms.
