Fifty years ago, some so-called 'kids' TV shows were pretty daring and crazy. Everything was very colorful, pop, musical and delirious. But, one show mixed all this in a very disorderly way: Banana Splits.
Created by Joseph Barbera and William Hanna, the famous Hanna-Barbera cartoon duo, the Banana Splits were a kind of crazy rock band, consisting of the dog Fleegle (vocals and guitar), the lion Drooper (bass and vocals), Snorky, a mute elephant keyboard player, and the monkey Bingo (drums).
The creatures ran a show called "The Banana Splits adventure hour" inside a crazy house.
This "adventure hour" premiered in September 1968 and ran until September 1970, with 31 episodes. It consisted of sketches and musical numbers with the Banana Splits and various other attractions.

As in many cartoons and series of that time, sketches and music clips were inserted between the segments.
In the case of the Banana Splits, there were also several outdoor scenes filmed at the Six Flags amusement park in Texas (even the entire show's opening was shot there), where they appeared driving buggies and golf carts wildly. So for some time, the Banana Splits were also attractions in this park.
