Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 May Have Major Deaths!

James Gunn has just released his DC’s The Suicide Squad, and now attention turns to the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The question here is how much the director’s latest work will influence the end of Marvel‘s trilogy, as he has implied that, just as happened with DC’s villains, we may see more deaths among the heroes.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, James Gunn explained the differences between the two films. Still, he made it clear that the outcome of the Guardians of the Galaxy story may not be as light. Just like in Squadron, where anyone could die at any time.

“Whereas in Guardians, yes, obviously I killed Yondu, I killed the big original Groot, but it isn’t the same thing. We know most of them are going to make it out alive. At least for two movies,” he said.

When asked about possible deaths in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn said nothing, but all signs suggest that things might go a bit heavy in this one. Could this be part of a “Suicide Squad effect” in Guardians?

Dave Bautista won the world over by playing Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy. However, the actor continues to state that he is highly disappointed with Marvel.

This time, the actor took to Twitter to make snarky comments to complain that the studio cut the conflict resolution between his character and the villain Thanos.

This is not the first time the actor has criticized the studio.

While speaking with Collider early this year, the actor explained in detail why he has some complaints about where Drax’s journey. He feels that the hero has become too comical and the fascinating tragedy of his story and lost.

“That role changed the trajectory of my life. It’s always going to be special to me. Now that I’m four films in…I really wished they would have invested more in Drax, personally.

Because I think Drax has more of a story to tell. I think Drax has a really interesting backstory which they dropped the ball on. That’s no dig on Marvel. They had their slate, I know what they’re focused on, that’s what they have slated out. But man,

I think they really missed the ball on Drax. He has such a great backstory. Selfishly, as a performer, that would have given me the opportunity to show different sides of Drax, emotionally.

And physically as well. Because, if you notice, Drax, although he looks like a badass, you look at him and he looks terrifying, but Drax gets his ass kicked more than any other Marvel character…,” he stated.

Bautista will reprise the role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 but has already stated that it will be his last film at Marvel.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Will Explain Rocket’s Scars

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 movie is still a long way off, but now and then, hints emerge of what we’ll find in the sequel scheduled for May 2023.

We recently found out that Sylvester Stallone for what it will be Dave Bautista’s farewell as Drax. But the big news involves the Rocket Raccoon backstory, the talking raccoon of the most heterogeneous team in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

This Wednesday (4), director James Gunn joined the Happy Sad Confused podcast to talk about his newest film, Suicide Squad, and the inspiration for making the first Guardians film.

During the conversation, Gunn hinted at something explored in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

“Well, I think we get to know where Rocket, you know, at the very first movie, we see Rocket take his clothes off. We see those scars on his back. We see that he comes from a place very difficult.

To me, me, that’s always been the center of the Guardians. How do you make a raccoon talk and make him real. It sort of ended up being the saddest story of all time.”

The director also expressed his love for the character and confirmed that we would know his origin story, saying that it “kills him every time,” hinting that it will be an exciting (or traumatizing) experience for fans.

The origin of Rocket Racoon’s scars

In the comics, Rocket began life as a normal raccoon, with his body shape drastically different from that of a human. To create a raccoon that could walk upright, Rocket underwent many painful surgeries that changed the structure of his body. He was also subjected to many genetic experiments to transform him into an anthropomorphic creature.

The other members of the Guardians team will not be forgotten, but it seems that Rocket will be in the spotlight in the movie that will close the trilogy started in 2014. Last year, James Gunn had already stated to this effect:

“I’ll just say Rocket is a big part of what’s happening in the future – and a lot of this stuff (like the scars we’re about to see on his back) sets up what I’ve been planning for Rocket all along.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled for release in May 2023.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn revealed in an interview with Collider that filming for the movie would begin in November in Georgia. According to Gunn, the script for the new MCU film has been finished for years.

“It’s basically been finished for years. I keep fiddling with different things and adding things and figuring out permutations and stuff — I’m in the middle of doing another draft now — but it’s really small stuff in comparison to what it has been. It’s basically been finished since three years ago,” the director said.

Despite Gamora‘s death in Avengers: Infinity War and the inclusion of a new version of her in Avengers: Endgame, James Gunn explained that Marvel did not ask him to include anything new in the characters’ story.

“The only time they ever [asked me to include something for future MCU movies] was on the first movie with Thanos, putting Thanos in there. Which they wanted me to do. But besides that, they’ve never done that.

I have to pay attention to things that happen, which they did talk to me about – the stuff with Gamora and things like that.

I know that the characters have been through certain things, so I have to deal with that stuff. But for the most part, they never once asked me to put anything in the script for Volume 3 to set up anything in the future. Nor would I do it, frankly, it’s not really my thing.“

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled for release in 2023, and the franchise will also have a Christmas special and Baby Groot shorts.
