James Gunn Wants to Work With Margot Robbie After ‘The Suicide Squad’

The Suicide Squad hit theaters on August 6 and has left no one indifferent.

An action-packed and humorous film that made perfect use of the R category and pleased the vast majority of the public, so much so that Walter Hamada confirmed that James Gunn would continue to make more films of DC Comics characters.

One of the characters public liked the most, which already appeared in the first Suicide Squad film by David Ayer, was Harley Quinn, played by the magnificent Margot Robbie, known for films like The Wolf of Wall Street or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The actress revealed that she is pleased with her performance in the new DC film, to such an extent that it seems that she has been talking with James Gunn to continue making movies together.

James Gunn, the director of The Suicide Squad, commented on Twitter that he has already discussed with Margot Robbie working together again on new projects. Still, among his plans, he has never considered making a Gotham City Sirens movie.

The film has been rumored for several years, and fans are asking Gunn to consider the project after his grand vision of Harley in The Suicide Squad. But it seems that it is not in his plans.

Despite this, we can be happy with these conversations between actress and director because they indicate plans to expand the story of Harley and her sidekicks, something we consider great news.

Suicide Squad: James Gunn Unveils King Shark Deleted Scene

Against some expectations, Suicide Squad has become a huge critical success, being one of the highest-rated DC Comics films for embracing the chaos and violence that the team is known for in the comics.

James Gunn has revealed that he had to cut some scenes from his film, including a more emotional moment from Nanaue, the King Shark.

The wildest character in The Suicide Squad is also the most lovable. Since his appearance, King Shark has won fans over with his bumbling ways, a fondness that has only grown during the film, even with the scenes of extreme brutality in which he is involved.

In an interview with Collider, Gunn commented that some scenes were altered or cut from the film’s final version, which will be present as extras on a future Blu-Ray release.

” I think some really great scenes that we cut out from the movie. You see this moment, where King Shark is looking out the window, and he sees a young couple kissing.

And you realize at that moment, hopefully just how he’s not a part of this world and how he longs to be a part of this world. That actually was a much longer sort of montage.

That is really beautiful, and I really like it in and of itself. Again, it was at the wrong place in the movie.”

Gunn’s statements imply that King Shark is not exactly evil but that he is just lost and lonely in this universe.

Now playing in theaters, The Suicide Squad has a new team of characters who, on Amanda Waller’s orders, go to the island of Corto Maltese to put an end to the Starfish Project.

Confirmed! Savant Was Sent to Belle Reve By Black Canary

In David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, the heroes who arrested the film’s villains are revealed. Except for Captain Boomerang, who was detained by Flash, the other criminals were arrested by Batman.

But in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, those responsible for sending the film’s protagonists to Belle Reve prison have not been disclosed.

It is only known that Idris Elba’s Bloodsport was arrested after shooting Superman with a kryptonite bullet and sending him to the ICU. But it was unclear whether it was the Man of Steel who captured him.

Through his profile on the social network Twitter, DC productions’ project supervisor, and DC Comics editor-in-chief Jim Lee has confirmed that Black Canary was responsible for imprisoning the villain Savant in Belle Reve prison.

Lee stated that one of the references to the occasion is at the very beginning of The Suicide Squad movie when the villain, played by Michael Rooker, kills a small canary with his training ball.

The Suicide Squad: How Starro Helped Marvel Get Inspired

Anyone who sees the giant alien star Starro The Conqueror destroying much of the fictional country of Corto Maltese in The Suicide Squad might have no idea that the character is indirectly responsible for creating Marvel Comics’ identity as we know it today.

That’s because the DC villain, who has appeared in the publisher’s comics for more than 60 years, served to inspire the competitor to reinvest in superhero stories.

As The Hollywood Reporter recalled, Starro was created by Gardner Fox and Mike Sekowsky and introduced in The Brave and the Bold#28 comics in 1960. The story also featured the first adventure of the Justice League of America, bringing together DC’s greatest heroes in a single plot.

Because of its inventiveness and dynamism, the comic caught the attention of Marvel editor Martin Goodman, who then convinced Stan Lee to reinvest in superhero stories under the House of Ideas label.

This inspiration is clear even in the cover comparison between The Brave and the Bold # 28 and the comic that started the Marvel Universe as we know it: Fantastic Four #1, by Lee and Jack Kirby, released in 1961. If it weren’t for Starro, we might never have not only the Marvel Comics we know and love but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Throughout his 61 years of stories in DC comics, Starro has scored other warlike encounters against the Justice League, as well as landmark confrontations with Aquaman (he is, after all, a space star).

However, one of the most memorable clashes took place in the 1980s, following the revelation that Starro we knew was just a small sample of a colossal version that still inhabited space. A threat that was only destroyed with the unexpected collaboration between the League and Dream, the protagonist of Neil Gaiman‘s masterpiece Sandman.

More recently, in the arc of Justice League: No Justice (2017), Starro was convinced of the importance and benefits of altruism, sacrificing himself to save others from the threat of the Omega Titans.

A portion of his body tissue was rebuilt by Batman, only to regain consciousness and become the hero “Jar,” about his life inside a jar, which plays an important role in the 2020 event Dark Nights: Death Metal.

Already off the pages, the character has collected animated appearances such as The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure (1960), as well as Batman Beyond (1999), Young Justice (2010), and Teen Titans GO! (2013). For video game fans, the character may look familiar if they have played Injustice: Gods Among Us, Batman: Arkham Knight, DC Universe Online, and Infinite Crisis.

In The Suicide Squad, the character is introduced by director and screenwriter James Gunn as an alien being brought to Earth by American astronauts and placed by the government in Corto Maltese’s Jotunheim laboratory in the (sadistic) care of the Thinker (Peter Capaldi).

Just as in the comics, Starro can release small versions of himself that control the minds of the planet’s population he invades. Still, the film manages to make him a character that elicits empathy, many thanks to the hint of terrible torture suffered by him at the scientist’s hand.

#ReleaseTheAyerCut: Harley and Deadshot Photo Reveals Romance

Harley Quinn and Deadshot were to have a romance in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, but the scenes were cut from the final script.

Suicide Squad arrived in theaters with many differences from the 2016 film, one of them being the more positive reception from audiences and expert critics. With this, the old movie, directed by David Ayer, has been talked about again.

It was even won the campaign #ReleaseTheAyerCut from fans, calling for a director’s cut release. While this is pending, a new image has revealed one of the many script scenes cut from the theater’s final version.

In the image, we see Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Deadshot (Will Smith) kissing in a scene that did not air, although the love triangle formed between them and The Joker (Jared Leto) was raised before the film’s release.

Via Twitter, director David Ayer confirmed that the romance between Robbie and Will Smith’s characters, which did not return for the new film, was indeed in the original plans. And despite the kiss being cut, some parts that survived the cuts were also part of that romantic plot.

One of such moments rolls around when Harley asks the Deadshot if he has ever been in love in his life, and he answers no, staring at her.

In another scene, we see the Suicide Squad leader staring at Harley, to which she replies, “do I have a hickey or something?” Also, via Twitter, Ayer revealed that this scene initially indicated that the two had an involvement.

Will David Ayer’Cut be Released in the Theatres?

Recently, David Ayer made a statement about the film he directed in 2016, stating that the final version we saw on screen was not what he really wanted.

“I put my life into Suicide Squad,” he wrote in the post. “I made something amazing. My cut is [an] intricate and emotional journey with some “bad people” who are shit on and discarded (a theme that resonates in my soul). The studio cut is not my movie. Read that again.”

While attending the red carpet for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie touched on the subject again and defended the release of the Ayer Cut.

Joel Kinnaman, who has starred in both “Suicide Squad” movies, also said Warner Bros. should #ReleaseTheAyerCut: “Why not? You always want to see the director’s vision.”

John Cena, the Peacemaker of the new team movie, has also shown interest in the Ayer Cut. “It’s in a company’s best interest to listen to their audience. If it’s in demand and they’ve got it, why not?”

The star also targeted Warner Bros. by suggesting that Ayer has come under pressure by claiming that director James Gunn has had more creative freedom at the helm of this new Task Force X adventure.

While fans are campaigning for a new version of the film, the studio’s most recent position is that this “project will not get off the ground“ – WarnerMedia Studios CEO Ann Sarnoff told Variety magazine in March of this year.

So it remains to be seen if fan pressure can change this story, as we have seen happen before.

The Suicide Squad: Cursing Idris Elba Was Intimidating, Says Storm Reid

Storm Reid plays Tyla, the daughter of Bloodsport in Suicide Squad, and her relationship with her father is not exactly smooth.

The villain, played by Idris Elba, receives a visit from the young girl while still in Belle Reve prison, and they inevitably exchange a few rude words during their conversation. The actress commented on what it was like to record this moment.

Reid talked about the film in an interview for Variety and confirmed that cursing at Idris Elba, in the role of Robert DuBois, was “intimidating.” She also spared no praise for James Gunn for directing the film.

“It is very intimidating, especially the way you put it, cursing out Idris Elba!,” Reid told Variety.

“It’s all part of the fun of acting, stepping into your character’s shoes and trying to embody a character, but also not neglect your raw emotion as a human being.

They all made me feel comfortable. We had a day of going back and forth. Mr. James, really made us go at it and had us do it in a lot of different ways. ,” she said.”

The 18-year-old actress said she wouldn’t think twice about returning for an eventual sequel to The Suicide Squad, which has yet to be confirmed. Tyla is one of the main motivations behind Bloodsport and is very important in building the villain character.
