Fantasia is the animation that turned Mickey Mouse into a conductor, and a Walt Disney classic, released in 1940 and revamped in 2000, that portrays Mickey Mouse’s journey through the universe of music.

The soundtrack was created with the help of the famous conductor Leopold Stokowski and was intended to popularize classical music.

Initially, Walt Disney Production’s idea with the Fantasia script was to release several short films.

However, during the creation of the animation without dialogues, it was decided to produce one feature film – which turned out to be Mickey Mouse’s first movie.

Fantasia was released on November 13, 1940, and despite good critical acclaim, it did not make it to the box office, and revenues were much lower than expected.

The success of the classic only began to show signs of success in the 1960s, and today almost every generation recognizes Mickey dressed as a little witch and holding the conductor’s baton.

Fantasia won two honorary Oscars in 1942, one for creating a new sound system called Fantasound (forerunner of surround sound) and the other for the originality of the production.
