“Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” is the first adaptation of the mega-bestsellers by British author J.K. Rowling. Orphaned by his mother and father, little Harry – the bespectacled boy whose bookish adventures have enchanted children and adults all over the world – lives with his terribly annoying “muggles” uncles and a cousin who hates him.

The film, about Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts, is highly faithful to Rowling’s books and has managed to transpose the whole imagery of the British writer onto the big screen, mainly due to elaborate and exquisite sets and an exceptional closet, which earned “Harry Potter” two Oscar nominations (the third was for the original soundtrack signed by John Williams).
