Recently, Hawkeye's fourth episode aired - and it brought back one of the most beloved heroines introduced in 2021: Yelena Belova, Natasha Romanoff's sister, who is also a Black Widow and soon must fight for the late Avenger's legacy. However, many fans are still wondering why she is after Clint Barton - especially those who missed Black Widow's post-credits scene. With a lot of future ahead of her in the MCU, Yelena now seems to have been hired by none other than Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the mysterious character with dark plans who first appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and who seems to be setting up her own team. But why does Valentina wish to see Clint dead anyway? Funko Pop! Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye – Yelena Belova with Chase Funko Pop! Vinyl Figure Yelena Belova with Chase Funko Pop! from Marvel Studios' Hawkeye series is now available for pre-order at the links below. In Black Widow, we met Yelena Belova as Natasha Romanoff's step-sister. The two nurtured a powerful bond, but they had gone many years without seeing each other and reunited again to ruin the plans of the Red Room, the Russian organization responsible for creating Black Widows. The film takes place sometime before the events of Avengers: Endgame, and because of this, Natasha had not yet sacrificed herself on the planet Vormir. The film's post-credits scene takes place after these events and shows Yelena going to her sister's grave to pay her respects. It is at this point that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine appears. Yelena claims that she could not disturb her on her own time and that she wants a raise, and Valentina replies by saying that she already has a new target for Yelena - "the man responsible for the death of her sister." Soon after, she shows a picture of Clint Barton as Ronin. Considering that the heroes' mission in the past must have been kept secret from the public, many should only know that everyone left to rescue the Infinity Stones, but Natasha did not return. Thus, Valentina manipulates Yelena to get what she wants - or perhaps what her superiors wish to Clint's death. Now, Yelena Belova is back in Hawkeye. She has attacked Clint, Kate Bishop, and Echo to finish her mission. However, when she has the opportunity to kill Clint, she hesitates and leaves. On the other hand, Clint doesn't seem to know who she is or what she wants.
