On October 1, 1971, exactly 50 years ago, the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando opened its gates for the first time. The celebration is getting all the pomp and circumstance: the “World’s Most Magical Celebration” will last for 18 months in the resort’s parks and hotels.

Among the highlights is the iconic Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park, which was transformed in 2020, gaining gold bunting and other golden decorations to welcome visitors. And, of course, Mickey would not miss the festivities for the world!

As part of the celebration, the icons of each Walt Disney World theme park have been transformed into magnificent “Symbols of Magic” at dusk, coming alive with their own iridescent glow.

Cinderella’s Castle is glittering like never before, lighting up the Magic Kingdom park with dazzling glitter and pinprick dust.

As hosts of this celebration, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their friends have dressed up in new looks created exclusively for the special occasion.

These commemorative designs include embroidery inspired by Cinderella’s Castle and fireworks and rich brocade, made of multi-toned iridescent fabric, all punctuated with gold details.
