The Sanderson Sisters are the stars of the 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus.
The sisters – Winifred, Mary, and Sarah – are a trio of witches executed in 1693 for their evil deeds.
However, they are resurrected 300 years later on Halloween night and set out to wreak havoc on the town of Salem. They must suck the life out of children in order to stay alive!
The sisters are played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, and they quickly become the most beloved—and feared—residents of Salem, Massachusetts.
The sisters are particularly notable for their distinctive fashion sense, which includes wearing fancy dresses and flying brooms.
They are also known for their signature song, “I Put a Spell on You,” which they use to try to hypnotize their victims.
Despite their villainous antics, the Sanderson Sisters have become cult figures in popular culture and are often seen as campy representatives of the holiday they so terrorized.
And even almost 30 years after the first film’s release, the Sanderson Sisters still have the power to create mischief and mayhem.
So if you see them on Halloween night, be sure to say “boo!”
