The new Funko Pop! Directors: Jordan Peele Funko Pop! Vinyl Figure depicts Jordan Peele, who made history by becoming the first African-American to win The Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Jordan Peele has quickly become one of today’s most acclaimed directors. After winning an Oscar for Get Out (2017), his first film as a director, the filmmaker returned to haunt with Us (2019) and then became involved in the production of numerous other horror projects.

One of the most acclaimed films at the 2018 Academy Awards, Get Out can be considered a major sleeper hit. The film, released in early 2017, gradually gained momentum during the awards season and had a solid campaign that helped it make it to the Oscars that year.

As a result, it was nominated for four categories (including Best Picture) and won Best Original Screenplay. Get Out also won the WGA award for Best Original Screenplay and a BAFTA in the same category.

After the massive success of Get Out, Jordan Peele has brought another challenging movie to the big screen. Us, starring Lupita Nyong’o, tells the story of a family who comes face to face with their doppelgänger (copies of themselves).

Directed and scripted by Peele, Us became one of the biggest openings in U.S. history for an original horror film, hitting $71 million in its opening weekend.

Unlike Get Out, We didn’t get a chance at this year’s televised awards, being completely ignored by the Academy. Much is due to the timing of its release – early 2019 – and the short voting time for this year’s Oscars.

In 2021, the director wrote and produced the Candyman sequel.
