Ronnie James Dio is widely considered to be one of the greatest metal vocalists of all time. He first gained notoriety as the lead singer of the band Elf before joining Rainbow in 1974.
He would go on to front Black Sabbath from 1979 to 1982 before embarking on a successful solo career.
In addition to his powerful vocal delivery, Dio was also known for his often humorous stage banter and absurdist lyrics.
