There’s just something about Tony Soprano that we can’t help but love, despite his many flaws.

He’s ugly, he’s dirty, and he’s definitely not a good guy. In addition, there’s no denying that Tony Soprano is obsessed with ducks!

But something about his gruff exterior and bad-boy attitude makes him irresistible. Maybe it’s because he’s always getting himself into trouble, or perhaps it’s because he’s just so darned tough.

Whatever the reason, we can’t help but root for Tony, even when he’s at his worst. And one thing’s certain: Tony Soprano is the kind of antihero that I just can’t help but love.

For several years now, organized crime experts have been trying to figure out which is the real gangster that the mythical Tony Soprano tries to impersonate on the small screen.

David Chase, the creator of the series, says that the model for the Sopranos was the Boiardo family – led for years by the mafioso Ruggiero Boiardo and later by his son “Tony Boy.”

This family has a Genoese origin and great power in Newark, just outside New York. Like Boiardo’s family, Tony Soprano’s family lives in the Roseland and Bellville districts.

Trusted men of the mafia boss in fiction have the same names as the real-life gangster’s trusted men: Big Pussy and Little Pussy.
