While Disney princesses are often portrayed as perfect, one-dimensional characters, Belle from "Beauty and the Beast" is a refreshing exception.
She's an independent thinker who isn't afraid to stand up for herself, and she has a genuine love of books and learning. I admire her for that.
I also like that she doesn't take crap from anyone, including Gaston.
Belle is also intelligent and resourceful. She was able to outwit the Beast and break the spell that was placed on him.
She's also not above getting her hands dirty - after all, she doesn't hesitate to jump into the fray when her father is in trouble.
She's still one of my favorites today, and I think she's a great role model for young girls.
