It’s time to grab your dinglehoppers and prepare to go underwater because Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid is finally coming to theaters!

So, what do we know about this upcoming movie? Let’s dive in!

First and foremost, we have to talk about the cast.

Halle Bailey, best known as one half of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle, will be taking on the iconic role of Ariel.

Joining her will be Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Noma Dumezweni in a new role created specifically for the film.

With such a talented ensemble, we’re sure to be in for a treat.

Of course, the story of The Little Mermaid is already well-known, but this live-action version promises to add some new twists and turns.

Director Rob Marshall, who previously worked on Disney’s Into the Woods and Mary Poppins Returns, will be at the helm, with a screenplay by David Magee and Jane Goldman based on a story by Marshall, Magee, and John DeLuca.

Alan Menken, who composed the original songs for the animated film, is teaming up with Lin-Manuel Miranda to write some brand-new tunes for the live-action version.
