Although The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) is the first sequel to the monster, its screenplay includes numerous elements from Mary Shelley’s work omitted from Frankenstein.

A clear example is the female monster desired by the creature in the book but is never constructed by the creator.

Likewise, the sequel shows us a being that wishes to become part of society – as, in the book, the monster takes advantage of a man’s blindness to approach without being rejected -, but eventually ends up terrifying everyone around him.

Dracula (1931) is based on Bram Stoker’s classic. Although many consider it the best Universal monster horror classic, the truth is that it has numerous differences compared to its printed version.

This is because the arcs of some characters were modified for the movie, although their respective natures remain incredibly faithful. In addition, the cunning and bravery of the legendary Van Helsing were respected.

Special mention goes to the brilliant performance of Bela Lugosi as Dracula, who remains the definitive version of the vampire more than 85 years after the film’s release.

As proof, one of the transformations shows Glendon wearing an elegant outfit consisting of a coat, hat, and scarf.

The film passed with more pain than glory in movie theaters. Time would overshadow it even more after the release of The Wolf Man by Lon Chaney Jr. However. No one can take away the distinction of being the first film to present a lycanthrope.
