Ultraman Chronicle Z Heroes’ Odyssey kicked off the 25th-anniversary celebrations of Ultraman Tiga (1996~97), which is still quite popular in Japan. The giant hero marked the beginning of the Heisei era of the franchise, alongside Ultraman Dyna and Ultraman Gaia.
This is an excellent opportunity for the new generation, which follows Ultraman Z, to get to know one of the great classics that transformed the tokusatsu genre in the 1990s. The series presents the best episodes of Tiga and Z, from the Heisei and Reiwa eras, respectively. Ultraman Zero links the two parallel universes.
The Bandai Tamashii Nations: Ultraman Z Original S.H.Figuarts Action Figure is priced at $49.99 and can be found at the links below. Its release is scheduled for November 2021.
Ultraman was created in 1966 by Eiji Tsuburaya, one of the most important names in special effects cinema in Japan. The series ran for 39 episodes, and its success helped not only to dictate the style of Asian hero shows but also to create one of the longest-running and most profitable franchises in the genre.
In the story of the original series, Ultraman is a being from the M78 Nebula who ends up on Earth while on the hunt for a monster. During his mission, he accidentally takes the life of Hayata, a member of the Science Patrol (or SIA), who fights alien threats. To restore the situation, Ultraman revives Hayata as his host and goes on to defend our planet by fighting monsters that cause destruction.
