Funko NYCC 2022: Goku Ultra Instinct Funko Pops! (Metallic)

Dragon Ball Super recently confused fans by revealing a variation of Goku’s Ultra Instinct in which Goku kept his original black hair instead of the silver one we saw earlier.

Goku has been perfecting his use of Ultra Instinct throughout the “Granolah the Survivor” arc. Still, this case has intrigued fans to the point where Toyotaro has been prompted to explain the decision and its meaning.

“The reason why Goku ultimately chose to go with the black-haired form this time is that the silver-haired one cannot be maintained unless the mind remains calm,” Toyotaro explained.

“With the black-haired one, he could show his true self and still use Ultra Instinct. So, he went for that transformation. So, I feel that Goku is becoming more familiar with Ultra Instinct. Or rather, He is making it more of his own.”

“Even if you don’t transform, like Whis, you can still be in a state of Ultra Instinct, so this is not a particular state of being. Rather, it would be ideal for you to be in a state of Ultra Instinct regardless of whether you’re asleep or awake. I think Goku is getting closer and closer to that level.”

“I imagine Goku’s mastery of Ultra Instinct slowly seeping into his own body. Then his hair returns to a style closer to the original. That’s why I pictured him with black hair,” the artist concluded.
