In a world full of pirates, as in One Piece, there is no better way to travel around than a good ship. And the Straw-Hat Pirates used for a long time the old Going Merry, which unfortunately is no longer with us.
The Going Merry is one of the most iconic set pieces in the One Piece franchise. The Straw Hats' first ship is introduced early in the series and quickly becomes a staple of the crew.
But Going Merry is more than just a set piece. It's a character in its own right.
And it's official - the One Piece - Luffy in Going Merry Funko Pop is finally here! This much-anticipated figure features the lovable Straw Hat captain as he sets sail on the high seas aboard the Going Merry.
The Pop! will surely be a hit with collectors and casual fans.

In a sea full of strange ships, it is always good to be able to identify which group you belong to before you take a bullet. This is why pirate - or Jolly Rogers - flags are so important.
In the case of Going Merry, you might imagine that it has always had the Straw Hats flag. But that's not quite true.
The ship was a gift from Lady Kaya's butler, Merry - what a coincidence! And so its first flag had none other than the image of the butler's face, having been replaced only in chapter 42 of the manga.
The Going Merry may have quite unique and distinctive features, but that doesn't mean that they came entirely out of Eiichiro Oda's head.
In fact, the ship's design was inspired by 15th-century Portuguese caravels, more precisely, the quadrangular caravels, which, unlike the Going Merry, were used more for coastal exploration rather than the high seas.
It traveled about 30,000 feet!
We usually measure the distance traveled by ships in nautical miles or knots. But then, why on earth are we talking about feet?
Because the point here is to talk about the distance that Going Merry traveled... upwards! Yes, we must remember that during the Skypiea arc, the Straw Hats practically turned the Going Merry into a floating ship - which also helped to destroy its keel.
So we can say that the Going Merry is one of the only ships in the series to fly that much!
It took as much damage as any other character!
Going Merry certainly took as much damage as any other character when we talk about damage.
In fact, Merry even took damage from his own crew, such as when Luffy decided to remove the mast to hit the whale Laboon.
Throughout this entire period, Merry was mended, patched, and stitched up by Usopp as best he could until he simply couldn't take it anymore. The crew's farewell to their much-loved ship is one of the most moving moments in the series.
Going Merry is an official crew member!
Going Merry is not just one of the ships that have passed through the hands of the Straw Hats.
It is as much a part of the crew as any other, so much so that he even materialized in one of the episodes of the Skypiea arc and fixed himself, granting a few more episodes of life.
Currently, Merry's spirit lives inside Thousand Sunny.
