"The Walrus and the Carpenter" is a song from Alice in Wonderland, sung and narrated by Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Alice, lost in the forest, encounters this pair of characters, who insist on reciting this poem to her, even though she is anxious to find a way out.
The story told to Alice, the conniving Walrus, and his dopey sidekick, The Carpenter, team up to go hunting for seafood. Their target: a bed of oysters.

After such a chilling ending, Alice comments that the Walrus is the one she likes better of the two because, at least, "she felt a little sorry for the poor Oysters."
Tweedledee, however, notes how the Walrus pretended to cry and used the handkerchief to pick out the most delicious ones and hide them from his companion's view.
Alice rectifies and says that, in such a case, she prefers the Carpenter, the Tweedledum replies that the Carpenter also ate as many as he could.
Confused for a moment, Alice concludes that "they are both very nasty fellows."
