One of the oldest attractions at Disney Parks is Pirates of the Caribbean. For those who don’t know it, the attraction has everything that characterizes the pirate world and takes a tour through dungeons and abandoned beaches, as well as having that classic “yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate’s life for me” song.

Unlike what happens in most cases, it was not the movie that originated the attraction, but the other way around. The original attraction opened at Disneyland in California in 1967 and was the last to be built under Walt Disney‘s direct supervision.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” debuted on March 18, 1967, at the Disneyland theme park and has since gained its own attraction at other Disney resorts around the world, such as Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris Resort, and the most recent addition to the family, Shanghai Disneyland Resort.
