It all began with Goethe’s poem Der Zauberlehrling, written in 1797. One hundred years later, inspired by this poem, the Frenchman Paul Dukas composed L’Apprenti Sorcier.
Walt Disney followed, who, based on the music and the poem, created a short animation, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, for what would become the third and most famous segment in Disney’s film, Fantasia, where Mickey Mouse is the young apprentice.
