The game took the award for “Most Anticipated Game” in 2014 and for “Best RPG” and “Game of the Year,” the most important of the event, in 2015.

The story takes place in a fantasy world divided between the northern kingdoms (Temeria, Redenia, Aedirn, and Kaedwen) and the empire of Nilfgaard to the south. In this universe lives creatures such as dwarves, elves, griffins, humans, and witches.

The Witchers are humans who have mutated to have more strength and more agile reflexes. They are also able to use “signs,” which are basic spells that help in battle. In this society full of spells and monsters, the role of witches is that of monster hunter and slayer. Kings and lords hire them to do the dirty work.

Because of their mutations, witches are not well regarded in society. Geralt has unique abilities among witches, and the trilogy begins in The Witcher with the protagonist trying to regain his memories after an episode of amnesia.

Gradually he remembers events and people from the past, such as Triss Merigold, a sorceress who is his romantic partner and appears in the other games of the franchise.

The saga takes Geralt after the secrets of the mutations performed on the witches captured by an organization called the Salamander. As the plot progresses, you discover that Jacques of Aldersberg, grandmaster of the Order of Flaming Roses, is behind the Salamander and has stolen the secrets to creating mutants for his army.

Geralt defeats Jacques of Aldersberg and ends up saving the king’s life. In The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Geralt is wrongly accused of killing the king of Temeria, and his mission is to find the real killer. The story takes place shortly after the first game’s events, and different storylines depend on the player’s choices.

The fact that does not change is that, in the end, Geralt learns of a plot to assassinate more kings of the North. Letho (a character present in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) is another witch and the real person responsible for the assassination that Geralt got away with.

In the end, Geralt discovers that it was the emperor of Nilfgaard who was ordering the death of the kings of the North to destructure the region and force new invasions.

Two important characters appear in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Ciri and Yen. Yennefer de Vengerberg is Geralt’s true love, despite the wizard’s relationship with Triss, since the first book in the saga, but appears for the first time in the third game.

The romance of the two has ups and downs, just as in the books. Ciri is a key character in the third game of the saga. Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon is princess of the kingdom of Cintra. Geralt takes a curse from Ciri’s father, and she becomes the warlock’s adopted daughter after the kingdom of Cintra is destroyed by an invasion. This event is shown in the Netflix series, which is based on the original books.

Ciri has not undergone mutations but has received both witch and wizard training, applied by Geralt and Yennefer. In The Witcher 3, Ciri is hunted by an order called the Wild Hunt, which gives the game its title. Wild Hunt is a group of powerful specters who cause terror in everyone and kidnap people to join the order.

They are chasing Ciri, and your goal in Geralt’s role is to find her before the enemies do, making allies along the way.
