After being delayed a few times because of the pandemic, it looks like 2021 is really going to be the year you finally get to play Halo Infinite. Developed by 343 Industries, it continues the story of Master Chief as the third chapter in the Reclaimer Saga, following Halo 5: Guardians.

The game is military science fiction and revolves around an interstellar war between humanity and an alien alliance known as the Covenant – who are led by the Prophets, the religious leaders.

They worship the ancient advanced alien civilization known as the Forerunners, who disappeared after fighting the Flood race of parasites for 300 years. The name “Halo” refers to the giant structures of mass destruction built by the Forerunners.

Halo Infinite is one of Microsoft’s big bets for the Xbox Series X. The game was announced during the company’s conference at E3 2018 and is developed by 343 Industries, the same developer of Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians, and Halo Wars 2. It’s the return of Master Chief and takes place shortly after the events of Halo 5. Halo Infinite is scheduled for release in late 2021.

According to 343 Industries, the trailer released by Microsoft during E3 2019 depicts the beginning of the story. Cortana is still missing, and Master Chief is floating in space until he is rescued by a Pilot whose name has not yet been revealed.

At a later point in the gameplay released at the end of July during the Xbox Games Showcase, the Pelican is attacked by enemies. With the aircraft damaged, the pilot makes a forced landing, and Master Chief begins the fight against the Banished, who are the villains of the game.
