He is one of DC’s most well-known and important characters, even if he doesn’t have the same visibility as some of his colleagues: we are talking about the Martian Manhunter.

The hero from the planet Mars was created a long time ago and always appears in several DC stories. He is one of the original members of the Justice League and helped found the famous team.

The character has shown himself to be the owner of many powers and abilities, so much so that he is often compared to Superman.

Created by Jack Miller and Joe Certa in 1955, J’onn J’onzz was a Martian teleported to Earth and prevented from returning home after the death of the scientist who sent him.

In his new home, he used his powers – which ranged from metamorphosis to telekinesis – to fight crime, eventually joining the Justice League. However, after the Crisis on Infinite Earths, J’onzz was given a new origin that established him as the last survivor of his race, taking shelter in our world as a refugee, in the best Superman-style, using his powers to fight evil.

Since then, Martian Manhunter has always proved to be a beloved character among fans, even without the popularity of such superstars as Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman himself.

The character proved to be a valuable member of the Justice League and the DC Universe in general for his wide range of superpowers and his cold and distant personality.

He would become a famous character outside of the comics, thanks to the animated series Justice League and Justice League Unlimited and appearances in live-action productions such as Smallville and Supergirl.

In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, one of the most anticipated scenes by Martian Manhunter fans happens right at the end, when the Martian Manhunter shows up to talk to Bruce Wayne.
