Funko Pop! Icons: MTV – Rainbow Moon Person Funko Pop! Vinyl Figure was just unveiled and is now up for pre-order at the links below.
On August 1, 1981, the legendary Music Television first aired, opening with John Lack’s “Ladies And Gentlemen, rock and roll” over footage from space revealing NASA missions.
The first clip? Ironically, the song “Video Killed The Radio Star” by The Buggles.
The ’90s came and MTV became the biggest global reference in discovering new artists, and with its hit parades and list shows, it basically dictated which singles became successful and exploded and which were ignored. With success came awards such as the Video Music Awards.
After the dizzying rise, the channel remained on top, but then came the Internet, and with it came the rise of popular access to music. Thus, the role of “sole” curator was greatly diluted and gradually MTV lost weight in the role as the one who dictated the rules of the music industry.
Rainbow MTV Moon Person Pop is expected to ship on August 1, 2021. A lovely icon not to be missed!
