Funko POP! Marvel Avengers Mech Strike: Black Panther Glow In The Dark (GITD) Funko Pop! Vinyl Figure – Target Exclusive is expected to be released on June 6 and is already available for pre-order at the links below.
Marvel is always experimenting with new ideas with their heroes to please the public or sell more dolls. In recent years, we’ve seen an attempt to pair their heroes with unusual weapons, such as the hammers in Fear Itself and the swords in X of Swords. The next step will be to get the Avengers to fight giant robots.
Written by Jed MacKay (Black Cat), Avengers: Mech Strike is a super ambitious new comic book series that aims to influence the entire industry. The artwork is by Carlos Magno (Fantastic Four), who tried to put each Avenger’s essence in his giant robot.
The inspirations couldn’t be clearer. A mix of Gundam and MegaZord have taken directly from Japanese culture. The real question is why the Avengers need giant robots to fight. MacKay answers:
“Heavy metal! When the Avengers come up against something that defies their usual methods, new tools are needed for the job: giant robot suits.”
