The Marvel comic book universe is also inhabited by vampires, and many of them are villains. To prevent many of them from harming humanity, the hero Blade always steps in to prevent the worst.

The character is a half-human, half-vampire and takes advantage of his abilities to hunt down and kill the creatures.

Blade has appeared on the big screen in the past and will soon also become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), where he will be played by actor Mahershala Ali.

Marvel’s sunglasses-clad vampire hunter has been slaying bloodsuckers in the pages of comic books since 1973. He hit the mainstream with the release of his action-horror movie starring Wesley Snipes in 1998, although the character went through some changes from his comic book counterpart.

Blade, whose real name is Eric Brooks, was practically born a vampire slayer. His mother turned into a vampire only moments before his birth, which granted him supernatural abilities, including long life and immunity to vampire bites. He became an undead hunter with a desire to exact revenge on Deacon Frost, the monster who bit his mother.

His quest for revenge would not only lead him to Frost but ultimately to fights against undead and other supernatural horrors alongside allies like Doctor Strange, Wolverine, Gwenpool, the X-Men, and the Avengers.
