In the latest episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we see Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) finally debut as the new Captain America of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after he turned down the shield at the beginning of the series.
The character’s build-up to donning his new uniform in the final episode can be followed in the six episodes of the series, released weekly on Disney+ from March 19 until last Friday (23).
The moment also carries a lot of symbolism. It is another step by Marvel in search of greater diversity among its heroes, placing the mantle of the character that carries the flag of the United States on a black superhero, who understood his role as an inspiration to a new generation.
