James Cameron’s Aliens was released in theaters 35 years ago, and fans everywhere are celebrating the 35th anniversary of one of cinema history’s all-time greatest sequels.

“In space, no one can hear you scream.” The universe created by Ridley Scott in 1979 is simply dark and visceral, stirring our most primal terrors: the fear of the unknown, of the invisible, of that which hides in the shadows.

Alien is a classic that established Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley and the Xenomorph as icons of science fiction and pop culture.

The queen of the Xenomorphs is one of the largest and most resilient of the entire race. She is the one who commands and controls all the Xenomorphs and makes them protect her at all costs.

The queen is the one who lays the eggs that originate the Facehuggers through a tube that she creates called the Eggshack. Then, when she is threatened, she can break the Eggsack to fight.

A little terrifying, a little sexy, a little bizarre

Alien was described by its screenwriters, trying to sell the story, as a “Shark” in space. And indeed, in the first film, the Xenomorph itself is not really the main point of terror, but rather, all the tension created by its presence on the ship.

However, the Xenomorph alone is enough to give everyone the creeps. And the monster has a very peculiar origin. He was created by the artist H. R. Giger, whose work combines human and technological elements, something a bit biomechanical. But also, Giger’s art is strongly influenced by genitalia.

What’s more, in creating the alien’s costumes, all that goo dripping from the monster’s mouth, plus those elastic parts in his jaw and costume, were simply lubricating gel and cut condoms.
