Movies - Ghostbusters 3 Afterlife Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the unexpected and long-awaited sequel to Ghostbusters 2, ending a 31-year hiatus, or 36 if you count the first film. It seems, and it is a long time, a lifetime, but finally, Ghostbusters came home, came back to the family. The first Ghostbusters is one of the rare perfect movies. Everything works, from the cast to the special effects, from the no-fat script to the characters with distinct personalities that evolve as the story progresses. The soundtrack turned Ray Parker Jr into a multi-millionaire. It's a hit that excites me to this day. Funko Pop! Movies - Ghostbusters 3 Afterlife Ghostbusters: Afterlife Funko Pops are now available for pre-order at the links below (click to jump!) The second film was a repeat of the first, and after that, never again. With so much ego play in Hollywood, it's admirable that the actors would lay off the money, only accepting a new Ghostbusters if the script lived up to the first. And that's not easy. Now Ghostbusters: Afterlife aims to be that worthy successor, with a premise that respects, celebrates, and expands upon the original premise. It's not a reboot. It's not a remake. It's the third film in the franchise. Funko Pop! Movies - Ghostbusters 3 Afterlife The cast is new. Of course, it would be impossible to reunite the four ghostbusters. Harold Ramis died in 2014, and Ernie Hudson is 73, Dan Aykroyd is 67, and Bill Murray is 69. The new generation involves a lot of kids on the adrenaline, led by none other than Egon Spengler's grandson (Harold Ramis), who is already dead in the film, making him the ideal actor for the role. Now the best part: Paul Rudd is in the movie, and everything is better with Paul Rudd. Funko Pop! Movies - Ghostbusters 3 Afterlife OK, I lied: The best part is that the surviving gang will also appear in the movie. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson are confirmed in the movie! Plus, Sigourney Weaver (Danna) and Annie Potts (Janine) will also be there! And that's not all: The film is directed by Jason Reitman (who also wrote the screenplay), son of Ivan Reitman, director of the other two films in the franchise. And Ivan is also producing Ghostbusters: Afterlife. So in other words: It's all in the house!
