Funko Pop! Retro Toys: G.I. Joe - Dr. Mindbender and Leatherneck

The G.I. Joe saga began in 1963 when Stan Weston, inspired by a TV show called “The Lieutenant,” decided to take his idea of creating articulable soldiers to Hasbro designer Don Levine. The idea was to produce a new toy, different from the conventional carts and trains, that would make the same success that the doll did among the girls.

With the name based on the movie “The Story of G.I. Joe,” the G.I. Joe series makes its market debut. With approximately 12″ and 21 articulated points, the G.I. Joe figures become the first “Action Figure” created worldwide. From this moment on, the history of toys would never be the same.
