As a young man, Obi-Wan Kenobi became a staunch defender of the Galactic Republic and took to the battlefields alongside his master Qui-Gon Jinn to thwart the Trade Federation separatist forces. With great skill with the lightsaber, a weapon used by the Jedi, the two led the resistance on Naboo against the droid attack.

The then padawan was also at Qui-Gon Jinn’s side when the latter met Anakin Skywalker, a boy whom the master believed to be the chosen one to bring balance to the Force. Obi-Wan was by Jinn’s side until his tragic end in a duel against the Sith Darth Maul.

Despite seeing his master die in battle, Obi-Wan was able to defeat Maul and become the first Jedi to defeat a Sith Lord in a thousand years. With his victory, Obi-Wan has decorated a Jedi Knight and given the mission to accompany and train Anakin Skywalker in the ways of the Force.

In a last attempt to stop his former apprentice from becoming a Sith for good, Obi-Wan duels with Anakin at Mustafar. After intense combat, Kenobi wounds Anakin and abandons him to die consumed by the planet’s lava. The now Darth Vader is rescued and has his body fused with a machine, which ensures his survival.

Darth Sidious’s attack also causes the almost complete extinction of the Jedi Order, whose members are murdered by clones. Surviving, Obi-Wan rescues Anakin and Padmé’s children and goes into exile on the planet Tatooine, where he would live for the next two decades.
