It seems like just yesterday when, in stunning fashion, Roman Reigns made his return to the ring in sensational style at WWE Payback 2020, winning the Universal Championship, forever changing the history of Friday Night SmackDown’s most important title.

Roman Reigns is currently the WWE’s top champion. The self-proclaimed Tribal Chief already carries over 250 days as champion, a reign that began at Payback on August 30 of last year when he defeated The Fiend and Braun Strowman.

More surprising than his return was his alliance with Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar’s former advocate, who is now a sort of advisor to the current Universal Champion. After working with other big stars like Big Show or CM Punk, Heyman turned to choose Reigns – and the result couldn’t have been better.

It has proven to be an exciting reign, as his move to “heel” was something that fans had been highly anticipating since 2017 when Reigns defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.
