Pamela Lilian Isley was born in Seattle into a wealthy family, but her parents were somewhat distant from her. She majored in botany and toxicology when she entered college and was a promising student, despite being a bit innocent.

One day, her professor, Jason Woodrue, who became the Floronic Man, began to seduce her and convinced her to become a guinea pig for his tests and experiments.

Pamela herself stated that they were very painful. She almost died on two occasions, and on another occasion, she was hospitalized for six months. The accident made Woodrue run away.

These experiments changed the physiology of Pamela’s body. Toxins that appeared in her bloodstream made the character immune to poisons, viruses, bacteria, and fungi. She also gained the ability to produce pheromones that she could use to seduce men more easily.

However, one consequence of these changes is that Pamela became sterile. Because of this, she became very attached to her plants and began to treat them as if they were her children.
