Those who watched Incredibles 2 in 2004 surely remember the strong genius of Edna Mode, the short designer with short black hair, bangs, and round glasses, who in the Disney animation was the brilliant mind responsible for the superheroes’ uniforms and also for influencing the style trends of the class.

The undisputed fame of the character created by Pixar originates from a real woman. The cartoon character in the animated feature The Incredibles was inspired by Hollywood’s greatest stylist, Edith Head, and like Edna Mode, she became an icon.

The will to show the importance of costume design made Edith not rest until the Academy created an exclusive category at the Academy Awards in 1948. Without any surprises, she was nominated 35 times for the award. She won eight statuettes and became the woman with the most Oscars in history.
