Thor Odinson is the God of Thunder, defender of both Asgard and Earth and one of the founders of the Avengers. The character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, looking to create a superhero stronger than any human.

The answer was easy: they would then create a god. The duo decided to explore Norse mythology since the audience was already very familiar with the Greek and Roman pantheon. And so Thor, the Viking superhero, was born.

Thor uses one of the most powerful weapons in the Marvel Universe. His hammer, called Mjölnir, was forged from Uru metal at Odin’s request. This metal is highly durable and is stronger than Adamantium.

In addition, Odin transferred his mystical energies to the hammer itself before offering it to Thor when Thor was 8 years old. Therefore, only those who are seen as worthy by Odin can lift the hammer.

Thor uses Mjölnir to channel his powers of lightning summoning and weather manipulation. In addition, mjölnir allows for the creation of powerful impenetrable barriers, the absorption of energy (which can then be thrown against the enemy), and the ability to fly.

Thor throws the hammer with his super-strength and flies off, holding the weapon, being pulled to his destination.
