Avengers: Endgame hit theaters on April 24, 2019, marking the conclusion of a 10-year timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Twenty-two films marked generations, starting back in 2008 with the first Iron Man.

After all the fans had witnessed Thanos decimate half the universe, including most of the heroes, Avengers: Endgame marked the return of all those dead with the snap of a finger. In addition, changes to the main timeline spawned timeline ramifications in which Loki and Gamora are alive.

Steve Rogers also bids farewell to the saga, even though he is not deceased. Captain America decides to go back in time and stay with Penny Carter, Agent Carter, thus creating a branch of the timeline in which they age together. The hero returns to the main timeline as an older man, only to pass on his shield to Sam Wilson, the Falcon.
