Darkseid and Steppenwolf are based on their look in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie.

Darkseid comes with his staff and a base, and Steppenwolf comes with his Axe and a base. They both include a collectible art card with movie photography on the front and the character biography on the back.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League was released and gave more prominence to Darkseid, the great villain of whom the Steppenwolf is only the herald. For those who don’t know, the character was introduced in 1971 and is part of DC’s New Gods.

The responsibility for creating all this is Jack Kirby, a legendary comic artist. He became famous at Marvel but left the publisher after a disagreement and took his ideas to DC. He created the Fourth World, the mythology of space gods that exist outside of space and time in the DC universe.
