Pop culture fans of the 1980s, marked by cries of “By the power of Grayskull…I have the power,” have reason to rejoice this year as the He-Man character is back, now revamped in a brand new animated series from Netflix.

Entitled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the newest animated series inspired by Mattel’s toy line is a mature and respectful reassessment of the original story, told in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983).

In the animation, a battle between He-Man and his old rival Skeletor causes the magic of the entire title-planet to begin to die out. Thus, the kindly forces of Grayskull and the evil forces of Snake Mountain must unite to find the two halves of the Sword of Power lost during the battle.

With He-Man and Skeletor out of combat, Teela is left to lead a group on a journey from hell to heaven to rescue them, unite them, and restore magic. The journey, however, is not an easy one and promises to cost the lives of beloved characters who have never before seemed so threatened.
