Pop! Rocks! Selena
Born in Lake Jackson, Texas, on April 16, 1971, Selena was talented from an early age. While playing Nat King Cole’s “I’m in the Mood for Love,” Selena’s father heard his daughter singing to the beat and immediately knew that a bright future lay ahead.
By the early 1990s, Selena was already the biggest Latino star in the United States: she was the first Hispanic to sign a contract with Coca-Cola, won more than 150 awards, and became the top-selling Latin singer of the decade. Selena became a model of inspiration and hope for Latino, immigrant, and bicultural communities worldwide. Her story that internalized and celebrated her entire cultural heritage and persevered in the face of adversity forged an emotional connection with millions of people. Her tragic death at the age of 23 left a void in the music industry, where she is still recognized as one of the most successful Latin artists of all time, with over 70 million copies of records sold worldwide.
Soon, her life and legacy will arrive at Netflix in a new show dedicated to the “Queen of Tejano music.” Funko takes this opportunity to lunch the first wave of Selena Pop figures, which includes 2 versions of the artist with the burgundy outfit from the legendary RodeoHouston performance in 1995 and a version with the 1994 Grammy White Dress in a beautiful and super cute Diamond Glitter finished. A must-have for any Funko collector.
