Shang-Chi: Director Explains Abominations’s New Look

Shang-Chi Director Explains Abominations's New Look

Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ Director, recently spoke about the much talked about Abomination‘s appearance in the film. Since the Hulk villain could be seen in Marvel’s new production trailer, fans have been eager to see the character again after so many years.

One of the points of most significant curiosity surrounding the return is the Abomination’s new look, which more closely resembles the character design seen in the Marvel comics. It was with this in mind that, in an interview with Fandango, Destin director Daniel Cretton spoke about it:

“He’s big and scary and looks really cool. I can’t really say anything about Abomination [laughs].”

” I think Abomination got a bit of an upgrade… or we might call it an evolution going through time. I do really love the design that we landed on for that character.”

The changes are pretty obvious and should please fans. He has had a massive makeover and now has “fins” on his ears, as well as more flaky and plaque-like skin. This look is very true to the comics.

Abomination first appeared in The Incredible Hulk, a film from Phase 1 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. In Shang-Chi, it seems that the villain will be part of a tournament that will also involve Wong from Doctor Strange.

In the comics that serve as a prequel to The Avengers, we know that Abomination was considered by the U.S. government as a candidate for the Avengers Initiative. In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series, it’s stated that he was being held at a base in Alaska.

It has already been announced that Abomination will be back in the She-Hulk series starring Tatiana Maslany, with Tim Roth reprising the villain’s role, which probably means that Shang-Chi will have some connection to the She-Hulk series.
