Waterworld: New Series Based on The 90's Movie is Now Being Developed

Waterworld is an often forgotten classic of the 1990s, but the plot is getting a new TV series.

The movie was released in 1995, starring Kevin Costner, and brings a post-apocalyptic future in the best Mad Max style, only with much more water than the Australian deserts where the road warrior adventures take place.

The information comes from Collider, which says that the series could be a sequel to the film, helping to expand the universe shown in the original work.

With the current technology, this post-apocalyptic world can gain many new details without leaving aside the essence of the movie. Some current successful series have been based on old movies format that has proven to work.

Production on the Waterworld series is in its early stages, with no premiere date and no other details revealed. However, it is highly unlikely that Kevin Costner will return to play the mysterious “Mariner,” the original film’s protagonist.
