WHAT IF... Director Wants a Captain Carter Live-Action Solo Movie

What If…? has arrived and finally marked another Wednesday series with new content for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The production follows a different pace. After all, as we saw in the episode, all the characters are animated and no longer in traditional live-action.

What If…? is the first MCU animation but promises to open the door for a succession of new releases both in series and cinematic format.

The first episode arrived with the most talked-about character of the entire series. Peggy Carter makes her return to Marvel in a big way, transforming into Captain Britannia, the army heroine who took over the Super Soldier transformation in place of Steve Rogers.

The episode also brought a younger Steve, wearing Stark armor similar to the one we saw in Infinity War. In addition to him, fans are missing Bucky, Clint, and Nick Fury.

It is no secret that Marvel has found success in the sequel formula. Any kind of continuity, reference, or mention of previous events is something well-received by fans.

Hidden Easter eggs have become an audience addiction, something that has increased even more with the Disney+ series format. Now that the studio is diving headfirst into animation in What If…?, the options are really endless for what Kevin Feige wants to build.

Peggy Carter is being dubbed by Hayley Atwell, who played the character in the Captain America films. Atwell had already revealed her excitement to be in the production, even if only voicing the Captain.

According to series director Bryan Andrews, Atwell may get her own live-action film at some point or another; such is the character’s success and the potential she will have for Marvel’s future.

“I know A.C. and I feel totally the same in this, and while we don’t know if this is necessarily going to happen, it would be amazing if they would just do a Captain Carter movie. Just get Hayley Atwell in the suit, give her her own franchise and just have her blow doors like hells to the yeah.”

We already know that Carter will return in What If…? Season 2, which does not yet have a release date. Producer Brad Winderbaum had already revealed an upcoming second round of episodes and that Carter would be in them. However, we still don’t know when the animation will get its sequel since Marvel has numerous projects in development.

What If…? premiered this Wednesday (08/11) on Disney+.
