Hugh Jackman Comments Again on Rumors on Wolverine’s Return

Ever since he announced his departure from Wolverine‘s role, Hugh Jackman‘s return as the mutant has been on everyone’s radar.

The actor has again commented on the possibility, especially after some posts on Instagram where he appears alongside Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel Studios. Still, to the chagrin of Ryan Reynolds, nothing is on the way.

In an interview with Jake’s Takes, Jackman spoke again about rumors that he had received proposals from Marvel and the events of the Loki series, which would make it possible for him to join.

He denied everything and took the opportunity to joke once again with Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds, who has been asking him to return so that they can act together again.

“It’s still a character I hold close to my heart, but I know it’s done. Tell that to whoever you want, but please tell it to Ryan [Reynolds]. Because he doesn’t believe it, he thinks I’m joking.“

Jackman said, once again ending the fans and Ryan Reynolds‘ hopes.

Free Guy hit US theaters last weekend and is already a hit. With an estimated $10 million earned upon release and 82% approval from critics at Rotten Tomatoes, the film starring Ryan Reynolds seems to have successfully brought the gaming universe to the screen, and Disney already has plans for the future.

In a post on Twitter, Reynolds said that the studio has already confirmed that they want a sequel, and Taika Waititi, who is in the cast, also commented. “Aaaannnnd after 3 years messaging #FreeGuy as an original IP movie, Disney confirmed today they officially want a sequel. Woo hoo!! #irony.”

Free Guy follows the story of Guy (Reynolds), a bank teller who thinks he has a perfect life – despite some strange happenings – and discovers he is an NPC (Non-playable Character) in a video game.

The film is directed by Shawn Levy, known for Stranger Things, and the cast also includes Jodie Comer from the Killing Eve series.

Likely, the rumors involving Hugh Jackman as Wolverine will never really end; such has been the fans’ nostalgia for the iconic X-Men mutant.

Hugh Jackman decided to end fans’ curiosity and gave a definitive answer about returning to the Marvel Universe.

In an interview with ScreenRant, while promoting his new film, Reminiscence, he was asked whether or not he would return to play Wolverine now that the X-Men franchise will be included in the MCU.

“It’s in my past, man. Don’t tell anyone, alright?

Let me just say one more thing. Because as I said that, there’s not a day goes by where I’m not unbelievably grateful for having been part of that MCU Universe. Particularly to be there at the beginning of it, and to watch it. To see Kevin Feige going from being an assistant to a producer and a mate of mine, to where he is today. And that was a role of a lifetime.

So, I don’t ever want people to feel that when I say I’m done, it’s a glib thing. It was one of the great chapters of my life..”

Jackman debuted as Logan in 2000 in the first successful X-Men adaptation. He quickly became synonymous with the character, as did Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man.

It was so successful that Jackman appeared in the film’s sequels, X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.

But he didn’t stop there. Hugh would play Logan again in the character’s solo films: X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine. Jackman also appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past before his last movie with Logan. The film was marked to be the character’s farewell, which many fans considered one of the best hero movies in history.

It’s not a spoiler for anyone, but we know that Logan dies at the end and stars in one of the most beautiful scenes in all Marvel. The movie marked the end of an era, much as it did when Downey Jr. said goodbye to Iron Man.

This year, Free Guy is one of the few big releases that isn’t tied to any successful franchise, and Ryan Reynolds would like to keep it that way.

So while the actor may have used the Deadpool and Korg characters to promote his upcoming action-comedy in one of the promotional videos, he doesn’t see the need to include the raunchy anti-hero in his new film.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Ryan Reynolds talked about how one of the most interesting parts of working on Free Guy was the fact that it was completely original and not tied to an existing story.

Because of the originality, Reynolds didn’t feel the need to bring Deadpool, an extremely popular character, into the picture.

“No, I mean, for me, the thing that I love most about Free Guy is that we’re doing something that I think is very increasingly rare, and very hard to do in this current marketplace.

Which is open a big blockbuster movie that’s based on nothing but an original idea. I mean, it really isn’t an IP, it’s not a sequel, it’s not based on a comic book, it’s not based on anything,” said the actor.

He went on to promise some surprises for the fans:

“It’s based on a concept and an idea that people are familiar with, which is the video game world. I love that we had that opportunity, so no, I never really felt like I needed to put Deadpool in.

He wouldn’t really fit in there. We do have some massive surprises in the movie that are courtesy of getting to work at Disney. But yeah no, I never thought of putting Deadpool in there.”

It’s still uncertain what the Disney-related surprises are, but Free Guy is just days away from being released in theaters, so fans will find out soon enough.

With 98 reviews recorded, the film currently has a critics’ approval rating of 86% at Rotten Tomatoes.

Free Guy, the action-comedy starring Ryan Reynolds, will make all video game fans out there happy, mainly because of its theme.

And because the story is dedicated to the gaming universe, the title has earned a series of posters that pay homage to iconic games like Super Mario World, GTA, and Animal Crossing.

Early reactions from international critics to the film claim that the production is “very entertaining” and maybe “the best video game movie ever made.”

In Free Guy, Reynolds’ character, named only Guy, is warned by a figure called Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer) about the true nature of his world: he is a non-playable character (the famous NPC) in a video game. Together, the two will have to stop the game’s creator (Taika Waititi, director and actor in Thor: Ragnarok) from destroying it.

Lil Rel Howery (Run!) and Joe Keery (Stranger Things) are also joining the Free Guy cast, directed by Shawn Levy and written by Zak Penn and Matt Lieberman.

The film will arrive in theaters on August 13 and 45 days later on Disney+.

Ryan Reynolds Reveals Possible Deadpool 3 Shooting Start Date

Actor Ryan Reynolds has a rough idea of when they will start shooting the Deadpool 3 movie for Marvel Studios.

Currently, Ryan Reynolds is busy promoting his new Free Guy movie, and at every press event, he has been asked about the Deadpool 3 movie. Finally, he has given an update that is sure to be a great joy for Marvel Studios fans.

When asked when they will start shooting Deadpool 3, this is how Ryan Reynolds replied.

“The percentage chance? I don’t know. I couldn’t assign a percentage to that. I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe?

We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape. What the hell month is it? August? Oh, next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.”

The actor confirmed that he has been working with Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin writing team.

“It’s something that is just a daily process. Writing is kind of like that, you’ve gotta allot time to do it and walk away, and I’m working with the Molyneuxs on it, it’s been great.

They’re incredibly talented and so, so smart. They so understand that world and know how to zig when everyone’s expecting a zag, so it’s been a lot of fun.”

For now, they are running into two significant drawbacks to moving forward with the Deadpool 3 movie.

For starters, everything has coherence in Marvel Studios, so introducing a character is not easy. Plus, they are releasing more and more movies and series, so preparing something now may not work in a year. Fortunately, with the “multiverse,” explanations can be given in a simple way.

The second problem is Disney, severely limiting Ryan Reynolds’ creativity and censoring his ideas for Deadpool 3. So the project is suffering from a war of egos. Marvel Studios is in the middle without getting all parties to agree.

Hopefully, Deadpool 3 will shoot in 2022 and be released in 2023, alongside movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Fantastic Four.
