Albert Kim, the writer of the series, believes that making this series is a great opportunity for a whole new community of Avatar: The Last Airbender fans to be born:

“Finally, a live-action version would establish a new benchmark in representation and bring in a whole new generation of fans. This was a chance to showcase Asian and Indigenous characters as living, breathing people.”

The Avatar project will be written by showrunner Albert Kim (of Sleepy Hollow) and produced by Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore, and Michael Goi alongside Roseanne Liang.

In addition, the live-action series will feature director Jabar Raisani and Goi and Liang.
