James Gunn defends Weasel after criticism: “Not every anthropomorphized beast need be beautiful.”

The director of The Suicide Squad, James Gunn, has responded to harsh criticism about the weasel character’s appearance. Gunn hit back by explaining that not all beasts are beautiful.

Sean Gunn will play the role of the Weasel. In the comics, John Monroe was a lonely young man constantly teased by his college classmates.

After graduating, he becomes a professor and sees several of those who teased him in high places. Embittered, he assumes the identity of the Weasel and, combining his agility with an outfit with sharp claws, kills three people at the university. In his participation in the Suicide Squad in the comics, he creates a rivalry with the Thinker.
