Game of Thrones is finally coming our way.
House of the Dragon is set to premiere in August 2022, and we could not be more excited.
The new series will be set in Westeros, just like its predecessor, and will focus on the origins of House Targaryen.
George R.R. Martin's
A Song of Ice and Fire book series has been adapted for television twice before, first as HBO's Game of Thrones and second as the 2016 History drama Vikings.
But both shows only adapt material from the first five books in the series.
However, the new HBO series House of the Dragon is set 300 years before
Game of Thrones and adapts material from Martin's
Fire & Blood, a history of House Targaryen written as if it were in-universe.
So this is the first time we've seen many of these characters on-screen.
We can expect to see moments of splendor and infamy, as well as plenty of dragons (of course).
