Born on September 22, Wynnewood (a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), in the United States, singer Joan Marie Larkin began her career at the age of 15. And it was in 1975 that she founded the band The Runaways, the group responsible for the leverage of her name, shooting towards stardom. 

The Runaways were not the first rock band formed exclusively by women, but they were the first to gain projection and recognition.

The artist eventually formed her own band, The Blackhearts, and became the symbol of a generation and the driving force behind those to come, becoming known as “The Queen of Rock.”
